Sometimes when people hear how quickly and graciously the Lord brought together our support team we hear things like, “Wow!  You guys are really on the fast track!”  Other times, when people hear our story and how long it has taken us to get to this point we hear something like, “Wow! You’ve been working at this a long time.”  However you look at it, we know one thing is for sure… God’s hand is totally in the timing and the process is a critical part of our preparation.  So whether we feel like we are moving through this process at light speed or we feel like Indonesia is light years ahead, we trust that Father God is the Lord of the timing and we give Him permission to do good work in us (and hopefully through us) during the process.

What an amazing opportunity our family has to serve our Lord with MAF in Indonesia. I was doing my 11th and last training flight before I start my maintenance standardization. My instructor and I stopped at a dirt strip and we set up cones to simulate a 1,100′ airstrip. This is the shortest runway we can operate at while retaining our safety margin (we have to be able to land and stop using only 60% of the useable runway). We finished practicing and were picking up the cones when I was reminded of the tremendous privilege it is serving with MAF. For decades, MAF has been striving to bring the good news to the ends of the earth and making disciples of every tribe, tongue, and nation. And we get to be a part of it! We get to use our God-given gifts and talents, using state-of-the-art technology, to fly into remote areas and bring light where there was once only darkness!
