Love Is A Verb…

So, it is kind of amazing what you can learn from a Disney movie. We took Adelina to her first “big girl” movie yesterday. We watched “Frozen” and had a wonderful time. It was cool for me to see things through the eyes of a child who had never been in a movie theater before. It is all old hat for me but I realized that the crazy carpet, the popcorn smells, the large seats, the big screen, and endless previews were all new to my little girl. It was fun sharing a new experience with our girl and I can’t wait to share so many more new things! Flying airplanes, sharing the good news with others, visiting a new country, eating new foods, climbing mountains, canyoneering, and others just to name a few!

Anyways, we watched “Frozen” and I don’t want to give too much away for those who will go see it with their kids but, yes, I cried and they did a great job showing how love is best expressed through sacrifice. For love to be sincere it must be accompanied by action. The currency of love is sacrifice. One of the most famous verses in the Bible is John 3:16, which says, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (NLT) Do you see what it says in the very beginning. God loved…he gave. Amazing! God loved the world so it was natural for Him to give. Jesus loved us and He gave His life so that we might live. We love God so we give our lives in worship to Him. Romans 12:1 says, “I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” We give, we sacrifice out of love.

The build up of all this is to say thank you. We know that we are loved because of how you have given, you have sacrificed, to help us serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF). We receive emails from families who want to support us. We receive emails from MAF telling us that someone has sent in money for our one-time outgoing fund. We see people at church who come up to us and tell us they want to be a part of our support team. It is extremely amazing and incredibly humbling. The currency of love is sacrifice and we know we are loved because of the ways that scores of people have and will sacrifice for the gospel through our family. Thank you so very much.

We currently have 72% of our monthly support raised and 97% of our one-time outgoing fund raised! Just to let you know, that is uncommon in a very good way. I was talking with some of the staff at MAF about our plans for getting all of our training done so we can get on the mission field ASAP, and when I told them about our support level they could hardly believe it. We are blessed by the love that has been poured out on our family.

In other news, we have had a wonderful holiday season with more fun to come. We have been able to do some really fun things as a family like go on the Polar Express and attend Adelina’s first Christmas concert with Summit Ridge Christian School. The children are doing well and we are all looking forward to starting our new adventure with MAF. We have less than a month to go before we start our training. We hope to get our country assignment around the 21st of January! We can’t wait. Thank you for all of your prayers and love.
