One of the things I (Phil) love most about our adventure is sharing it with others! There are a number of reasons for this but I will tell you about three. First of all, it is fun to share with others because it opens up a door to share about Christ as well. Many people ask, “Why are you moving overseas? Are you taking your kids? Why would you do that?” I tell them why we are going and what we hope to accomplish and how we think it will be a great thing for our children to experience and be a part of our ministry. Some people understand and others don’t, but we are excited trusting that He will use our story to draw them to Himself.
The second reason it is fun to share with others is how it encourages us. We are reminded why we are going and a reminder the call we have received from God. It reminds me of Philemon 1:6 where Paul speaks about how the sharing of our faith gives us a fuller understanding of all we have in Christ. We tell others about what God has done and it encourages us as well. Last weekend, we had the opportunity to share our story with some people from Summit Christian Church. We had some videos from MAF and shared how we got to this point and where we are headed. I have watched the videos almost a dozen times but I was getting pumped as I watched them again. I am so excited to get to work and get serving! So cool!
The third reason we love to share is that it encourages others. I have had several conversations with my boss about what we are going to do and he can’t believe it. He is very excited and always shakes his head and says, “That is so cool.” The fact is, we are nothing special. I think of what Jesus said in Luke 17:10, “So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” We know we are simply doing our duty. It is amazing how God uses our ordinary to do extraordinary things.
Thank you so much for keeping up with us and praying for us and loving us. It is such a blessing to have you in our corner.
Just a quick update on how our financial support is going. We are still in need of approximately $2,500 of monthly support. We are hoping to have most if not all of our monthly support committed before we head to MAF on January 13th so we can go straight into our training with MAF and get on the mission field as soon as possible. We have received a few more donations to our one-time outgoing fund and have over 85% of the $40,000 needed. GOD IS GOOD!!!
If you interested in supporting us with a one-time gift or committing to be a part of our monthly support team, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or click here for more information. Thanks and God Bless.
